CALDER TYPE REACTOR COOLANT: ANALYTICAL REQUIREMENTS AND PROBLEMS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4648235

An outline is given of the methods used in the analytical control of carbon dioxide feed gas in Calder Hall type reactors. Examination of the circuit gas is described, the techniques including mass spectrometry, infrared analysis, and carbon-14 counting. The radioactive species in the coolant are also studied and a gas chromatographic method for the determination of the rare gas fission product isotopes is described. (auth)
