A method for the removal of fission products from an organic solvent, which has been used in the processing of nuclear fuel, is patented. Nascent H is liberated in the solvent to condition the fission products for extraction to a washing medium. The solvent is agitated with the washing medium in contact with a nascent H source. The nascent H may be liberated electrolytically, using an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid as the electrolyte and the washing medium. An apparatus for carrying out the washing process is diagrammed.
