APPLICATIONS OF CONTROLLED-POTENTIAL COULOMETRY TO THE DETERMINATION OF PLUTONIUM. A REVIEW

Journal Article · · Talanta (England)
The determination of plutonium by controlled-potential coulometric titration was studied and used at Oak Hidge National Laboratory over a period of several years. Two methods, the primary (direct) and secondary (indirect) titrations, were applied to the analysis of a wide variety of materials. They were used for the determination of total plutonium, or ionic and polymeric plutonium contents, and of the oxidation state distribution of plutonium solutions. The techniques, procedures, and separations that were developed are described. The effects of some contaminants that are common to plutonium- containing samples are also presented. (auth)
