TENSOR-FORCE AND SPIN-ORBIT COUPLING IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE HARTREE-FOCK THEORY

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
A method is developed which introduces into the framework of the Hartree- Fock theory a mixture of one-particle states of opposite parities. Eventually it provides a state function of definite parity that is a sum of two Slater determinants. With this method, an important contribution of the tensor-force occurs in the Hartree-Fock equation in the form of an additional spin-dependent potential, which provides a spin-orbit splitting of the required order of magnitude.
