APOGEE: A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO SOLVE THE ONE GROUP NEUTRON DIFFUSION EQUATION IN THREE DIMENSIONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4638194
The computer program APOGEE, in SNAP for the Chalk River G-20 computer, solves the one-group neutron diffusion equation by finite-difference approximations on a three-dimensional uniform mesh of common spacings in two dimensions. Mesh geometries approximating either the NPD- or CANDU-type lattice can be used. The calculational procedures are discussed, particularly the treatment of physical boundaries; and case preparation is demonstrated. Flux, reactivity, and power distribution calculations showing good agreement with experiment are included. (D.C.W.)
