K-7 THERMOS (NEUTRON THERMALIZATION IN A HETEROGENEOUS CYLINDRICALLY SYMMETRIC REACTOR CELL)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4637263
S>The basic physical theories and the programming of the multigroup and multiregion K-7 THERMOS program, which solves the space and energy dependent integral transport equation in an infinitely long heterogeneols reactor cell with cylindrical symmetry and a reflecting boundary, are given. The thermal neutron distribution in space and energy so obtained can be used as input for a supplementary code (given) that calculates thermal utilization, reaction rates, etc. The mathematical formulation and ALGOL translation of the code are included. (D.C.W.) A remotely operable, electromechanical maintenance machine (named MINOTAUR I) was designed and built by General Mills Incorporated, to Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory specifications and design criteria. The machine includes two electromechanical manipulators, closed circuit TV cameras, 500-pound hoist, lights, and an audio system, which are mounted on a spherical casting. MINOTAUR I is mounted on a telescoping tube assembly, which is suspended from an overhead bridge crane. (auth)
