INVENTION REPORT--USE OF SUGAR TO NEUTRALIZE NITRIC ACID WASTE LIQUORS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4637048
A process is described for the use of sugar in the destruction of nitric acid in waste solutions. The efficiency of the denitration is found to be a function of temperature and moles of dissolved metal cations. The sugar may be used either in batch of continuous processes, does not require addition of anti- foam agents, and was estimated to reduce the chemical costs of present denitration operations by 50%.
