ELECTRON PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE OF Gd$sup 3+$ IN CaF$sub 2$

OSTI ID:4636626
Samples of artificial CaF/sub 2/ containing Gd(Gd: Ca approximates 1 x 10/sup -4/), sintered in an oxygen atmosphere, were investigated. Four trigonal magnetic complexes with Gd/sup 3+/ were found. The trigonal axes are directed along the body diagonals of the cube of the CaF/sub 2/ unit cell. The form of the spin Hamiltonian describing the spectrum was established, and its constants were found. The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is apparently due to Gd(F/ sub 7/O) complexes. (auth)
