The determination of Sr/sup 90/ in human teeth of different ages is reported. A decrease of the Sr/sup 90/ contamination beginning with the 2nd decade of life was observed in skeletal bone as well as in teeth. The contamination rates of the milk teeth were 0.44 for the year 1961 and 0.46 for the first half of 1962 (mostly 7- to 9-yr-old children). The contamination rates of the permanent teeth of children up to 18 yr were 0.49 and 0.36, respectively; it was 0.13 and 0.14 for the teeth of adults between 18 and 30 yr and 0.10 and 0.05 pC Sr/sup 90//g Ca for adults over 30 yr. A standard tooth with 1 g ash content and 0.18 pC Sr/sup 90/ (0.5 pC/g Ca) contains about 8 million Sr/sup 90/ atoms; its activity is about 25 nuclear transformations/hr or about 200,000/yr. These are numbers which are doubled in case of equilibrium with Y/sup 90/ (about 2000 atoms). (auth)
