OBSERVATION OF DISLOCATIONS IN A TANTALUM SINGLE CRYSTAL
Technical Report

OSTI ID:4630021
Optical and transmission electron microscopic studies were made on a zone-refined Ta single crystal which had been rolled to approximates 90% reduction of area at room temperature. The optical microscopic observations revealed a quite well defined cell structure delineated by etch pits. In the transmission electron micrographs, loops, elongated loops, and cusps were observed, and a cell structure appears to be forming after approximates 90% reduction. Dislocation densities of 10/sup 9/ to 10/sup 10//cm/sup 2/ were calculated in areas of high density. (D.L.C.)
