Tables are presented of the conditions used in the preparation of PuO/ sub 2/, and of the characteristic data of the PuO/sub 2/ powders obtained thereby. UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ coprecipitation runs, which resulted in powders of improved sinterability, are reported. Studies are being made on the preparation of UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ powders by wet ball milling of the component powders. Sintering studies of PuO/sub 2/ and UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ powder compacts are reported. Studies of oxidation kinetics of UO/sub 2/- PuO/sub 2/ are continuing. Results of compatibility and corrosion studies on UO/sub 2/-- PuO/sub 2/ pellets are described briefly. The status of short-term and high-burnup irradiation tests is outlined. (D.L.C.)
