HYDRIDE ORIENTATIONS AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THIN-WALLED ZIRCALOY TUBING. USAEC-AECL Cooperative Program Quarterly Progress Report No. 1, August 1963

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4629654
Stress orientation tests on six types of Zircaloy tubing were run at applied stresses of 0, 12,000, and 21,000 psi. The susceptibility to stress orientation of the hydride platelets varied widely among the different tubing types and was not defined uniquely by the Zircaloy texture. Some of the fabrication processes appeared to produce constant stress orientation behavior, while other processes produced varying behavior. (D.L.C.)
