THE PARITY OF THE 95 kev FIRST-EXCITED LEVEL OF O$sup 1$$sup 9$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
A lens type beta-ray spectrometer was used to measure the K internal conversion coefficient of the first-excited to ground state transition in O. The levels of O were excited by the reaction O/sup 18/(d,p)O/sup 19/. The value of the K internal conversion coefficient was measured to be 6.27(1 plus or minus 0.18) x 10 /sup -4/. This value is indicative of an M1 transition which establishes the parity of the first-excited level of O/sup 19/ as positive. The energy of the first-excited level was determined from internal conversion electron and photoelectron spectra to be 95 plus or minus 2 kev. (auth)
