Direct nuclear activation diagnostics are being developed to measure total beam energy being carried by hydrogen, lithium, and carbon in the diode of the Particle Beam Fusion Accelerator II (PBFA II) at Sandia National Laboratories. Protons are being measured using the reactions {sup 7}Li(p,n){sup 7}Be and {sup 48}Ti(pn,){sup 48}V; lithium ions using the reactions p({sup 7}Li,n){sup 7}Be and {sup 12}C({sup 7}Li,n){sup 18}F; and carbon ions using the reactions {sup 14}N({sup 12}C,2p){sup 24}Na and {sup 14}N({sup 12}C,{sup 4}He){sup 22}Na. Pepper shaker geometry is being employed to help retain any ablated radioactive products. These reactions have been calibrated at a Van de Graaff accelerator. Calibration data and PBFA II results will be presented.
