Proposal for nuclear rocket program at UCRL, Livermore
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:460801
A comparison of a nuclear rocket versus the chemical rocket is presented, and the feasibility of the nuclear approach is detailed with it stated advantages. Also provided is a discussion of the investigations necessary for a nuclear propulsion system. The major areas of investigation needed are: materials, testing, heat transfer, reactor physics, heat and fluid flow, mechanical design, propellant handling, and systems analysis.
