This chapter summarizes the performance and reliability of photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules, and systems. Techniques and results are reviewed for indoor and outdoor characterization of various PV cells and modules. Longterm performance data are presented for commercial and newly evolving PV technologies. Up-to-date techniques are described for accelerated testing and qualification procedures. Results of extensive field experiences and developments of standards, code, and system evaluation methods are discussed. 176 refs., 33 figs., 9 tabs.
