The analysis of uranium phosphides

Methods are described for the chemical analysis of uranium monophosphide (UP) and a higher phosphide (U3P4) produced as an intermediate in the preparation of the monophosphide. Sintering with a 3:1 mixture of sodium peroxide and sodium carbonate in a nickel crucible at 350 deg C for 1 hour is employed to dissolve samples for the determination of the phosphorus content.
