Metering research facility program: Siemens compact gas meter performance and compatibility tests. Topical report, March 1995-July 1996

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:459647
A comprehensive series of tests and evaluations were developed and performed on the Siemens E6 compact domestic gas meter at the Gas Research Institute (GRI) Metering Research Facility (MRF), and the SoCalGas test facilities. The ultrasonic sensor-based meter was tested and evaluated for compliance to U.S. industry accuracy requirements, general service functionality requirements, and extreme operating conditions. Test categories included Physical Construction, Flow Measurement Accuracy, Electrical Power Consumption, Wet Gas Performance, Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference, Endurance, Transient Flow Response, and Mechanical Shock/Vibration. Since there is currently no U.S. domestic gas meter standard that addresses the unique requirements of an electronically-based compact gas meter, tests were drawn from the ANSI B109.1 standard for diaphragm meters where applicable, and from other relevant standard sources.
