13CO substitution in Mn2(CO)10 and Re2(CO)10

By means of 13CO-enriched Mn(CO)5Br and 13CO-enriched Re(CO)5Cl, isotopically enriched species of Mn2(CO)10 and Re2(CO)10 have been prepared. I.R. and Raman spectra in the CO-stretching region have been obtained for these molecules and detailed assignments of the CO stretching modes are made. Force constants are calculated using a CO-factored force field. The results indicate that some of the assumption of the Cotton-Kraihanzel force field are valid for these compounds.
