Laser Raman Spectrum of Crystalline Cyclopentane-d and -d10

Here, the laser Raman spectrum of the crystal form III of cyclopentane and cyclopentane-d10 has been measured at 85°K. The frequencies and splittings of the internal modes and the number of observed lattice modes are consistent with the crystal structure deduced from the analysis of the infrared spectrum. Some details of the vibrational assignment are discussed, and consistency with observed gas phase heat capacities is checked.
