An experiment has been performed to study the mass spectra of the f0 and A$$0\atop{2}$$ mesons in the reactions π-p → nη+η- and π-p →π+π-γγ with an incident pion momentum of 4.5 GeV/c using scintillation counters and optical spark chambers. The mass resolution was verified by measuring the width of the ω0 meson. The mass spectra of both resonances were fit well by a simple Breit-Wigner shape. For the f0 meson the Breit-Wigner shape was definitely favored over a dipole shape with confidence levels of 92% and 5.4% respectively.
