AC-electric birefringence spectra of PTFE microcylinders in dilute KCl shows a large, broad dispersion near 100 KHz whose amplitude depends strongly on media conductivity. A model to explain this dispersion is based on a Maxwell-Wagner effect and an increase with frequency in particle surface conductance. Estimated surface conductance is comparable to other reported values. 27 refs. 3 figs.
