The reaction of ammonia and diborane to form aminoborane is studied. The initial step yields NH{sub 3}(BH{sub 3}){sub 2}. Then H{sub 2} elimination occurs either bimolecularly or by catalysis in the observed reaction. The potential energy surface and vibrational frequencies are also calculated. 26 refs., 3 figs., 8 tabs.
