First-order kinetics are obtained in the thermodesorption of Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers for C{sub 16} and C{sub 20} fatty acid monolayers and 2-hydrocarbon chain DMPE monolayers in this paper. Differing frequency factors are due to desorption out of the monolayer fluid phase (DMPE) or via an intermediate {open_quotes}fluid{close_quotes} state of high entropy from a solid state (C{sub 16} and C{sub 20} fatty acids). 17 refs., 2 figs., 1 tab.
