Development of the first commercial hot hole MWD system

Conference ·
OSTI ID:457293

This paper discusses the development of the industry`s first MWD system designed to operate at temperatures to 175{degrees}C (347{degrees}F), survive to 200{degrees}C (392{degrees}F), and withstand circulating pressures of 22,500 PSI. It describes the methodology employed which enabled the product to be taken from a technical feasibility study to a field test in less than seven months. The technical constraints which were overcome to achieve the operating specifications of the system while maintaining high reliability will also be described.
