Pressure effect on anomalous suppression of T{sub c} around x=1/8 in La{sub 2-x}Ba{sub x}CuO{sub 4} and La{sub 1.8-x}Nd{sub 0.2}Ba{sub x}CuO{sub 4}

In La{sub 2{minus}x}Ba{sub x}CuO{sub 4} (LBCO) and La{sub 1.8{minus}x}Nd{sub 0.2}Ba{sub x}CuO{sub 4} (LNBCO), the low-temperature structural change at T{sub 1} (= 60-110 K), resulting from tilt of the CuO{sub 6} octahedra, is easily suppressed at high pressures. However, the structural change of LNBCO (x=0.125) remains up to 2GPa though it jumps from T{sub 1} ({approximately}110K) to T* ({approximately}60K), where the electric resistivity {rho} begins to upturn, at 0-1.5 GPa. The upturn of {rho} is also suppressed at high pressures, and the superconducting critical temperature T{sub c} is fully restored except in a very narrow x-range around x=0.125. The T{sub c} for x {approx} 0.125 is appreciably lower at 2GPa than those for other Ba-contents.
