The energy spectrum of heavy-light meson states is studied in the framework of the full Bethe-Salpeter equation. The heavy-flavor mass expansion method is also used to obtain the heavy-light meson energy spectrum from both the first-order correction and the heavy quark limit. The results calculated by our model for the masses of {ital D}{sup 0}, {ital D}{sup {plus_minus}}, {ital B}{sup 0}, {ital B}{sup {plus_minus}}, {ital D}{sup *0}, {ital D}{sup *{plus_minus}}, {ital B}{sup *}, {ital D}{sub 1}{sup 0}, and {ital D}{sub {ital s}}{sup {plus_minus}} are in good agreement with the experimental data.
