Spectra of many types of compounds, including those relevant to energy, were measured. Theories concerning rotational, vibrational, and electronic state transitions of many molecules and molecular clusters were advanced and compared to spectroscopic evidence revealed empirically. Basic studies of the electronic structure of atoms and small molecules are also presented.
