FUEL BURN-UP PREDICTIONS IN THERMAL REACTORS. Panel Proceedings Series. Proceedings of a Panel Held in Vienna, 10--14 April 1967
Twenty nine prominent scientists from 14 countries and two international organizations took part in this panel discussion at IAEA agency headquarters in Vienna. Fuel burn-up has been increasingly important to be accurately predicted. Such predictions are necessary to acieve economic design, safe and economic operation, and accurate fuel material accounting in the reactor. However, many complicated phenomena in reactor physics and engineering are involved. Much of the complexity arises from the constantly changing parameters during the operating life of a core. The scientists present at the meeting exchanged their lates information on the status of their work in their countries and discussed both theoretical and experimental aspects. Fourteen papers were presented, and the topics included local burn-up, over-all burn-up, and fuel management strategy.
