The Arms Control and Disarmanent Agency (ACDA) now has the political support and institutional structure it needs to perform its post-Cold War mission. ACDA`s central mission will be to consistently and forcefully put forward its unique perspective. Arms control and defense are both vital elements of the same national purpose, to support the national security of the United States (U.S.) The ACDA`s efforts include extenting the Non-Proliferation Treaty, pursuit of a comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, committment to strengthen multilateral export controls, and ensure that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has sufficient resources to implement its vital safeguards responsibility.
