Heteroleptic lanthanide complexes with aryloxide ligands. Synthesis and structural characterization of divalent and trivalent samarium aryloxide/halide and aryloxide/cyclopentadienide complexes

The authors consider the synthesis of heteroleptic samarium aryloxide complexes. Starting with the homoleptic Sm(OAr){sub 2} (THF){sub 3} (1), (Ar = C{sub 6}H{sub 2}Bu{sup t}{sub 2}-2,6-Me-4). The heteroleptic products, [(ArO)Sm({mu}-I)(THF){sub 3}]{sub 2} (2), (C{sub 5}Me{sub 5})Sm(OAr)(HMPA){sub 2} (3), (ArO){sub 2}SmI(THF){sub 2} (4), [(ArO){sub 2}Sm({mu}-Cl)(THF)]{sub 2} (5). X-ray crystallography was performed and the structures of these products were discussed.
