The two-neutrino double beta decay of {sup 92}Mo to the ground state and excited states of {sup 92}Zr is analyzed using the shell-model approach and the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA). Two different valence spaces and three different Gamow-Teller operators are used in the shell-model analysis. The resulting double beta matrix elements and half-lives are compared with the corresponding QRPA results. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
