North Korea`s agreement to suspend its announced withdrawal from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) has granted the world a welcome 11th hour reprieve from the perilous consequences of this provocative act. The joint US-North Korean statement on June 11, one day before the withdrawal was to go into effect, while not solving the problem, buys time to bring Pyongyang into full compliance with the NPT.
