The authors present first de Haas-van Alphen (dH{nu}A) experiments on the quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) organic metals {alpha}-(ET){sub 2}MHg(SeCN){sub 4} (M = Tl or K) and compare the results with dH{nu}A data of the isostructural organic Superconductor {alpha}-(ET){sub 2}NH{sub 4}Hg(SCN){sub 4}. The angular dependences of the single found dH{nu}A frequency and the field-independent effective cyclotron mass, m{sub c}, perfectly follow the 2D 1/cos{Theta} behavior. From the observed spin-splitting zeros the authors unambiguously could extract the values of g{mu}{sub b}. Comparison with m{sub c} strongly suggests a reduced electron-phonon coupling constant in the nonsuperconducting salts.
