Development of a uterine sarcoma 18 years after radiotherapy for carcinoma of the uterine cervix (in German)

Journal Article · · Geburtsh. Frauenheilk., v. 32, pp. 1034-1037
OSTI ID:4436844
The case history describes a patient who developed a uterine sarcoma 18 years after radiotherapy for carcinoma of the uterine cervix. Two similar cases are reported in the world literature and are discussed. It is concluded that the second tumor had no causal connection with the radiation treatment. Various possibilities of its origin are discussed. Perhaps a second-look curettage would have permitted earlier detection of the malignancy. (HBG)
