The Fourth International Conference on Trends in Welding Research was held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on June 5--8, 1995. This conference was sponsored by ASM International and co-sponsored by the American Welding Society. The presentations focused on both basic and applied welding research trends around the world. Topics included sensing and control, welding processes, heat and fluid flow, solidification, solid state transformations, and properties. Keynote presentations were given on modeling, consumables, welding processes, solidification, phase transformations, properties, sensing and control, and residual stress by noted experts from around the world. Ninety nine papers have been processed separately for inclusion on the data base.
