Initial stages of a pre-ionized linear theta-pinch plasma

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4429023
From international symposiund on dynamics of ionized gases; Tokyo, Japan (13 Sep 1971). See CONF-7l0921 --. The initial parameters of the preionized z- pinch afterglow were determined by interferometry and spectroscopy. At the initiation of the THETA pinch, the plasma was 25% ionized and had a temperalure of ~1 eV. The diagnostic techniques used in the study of the main discharge during the first 0.5 mu sec include (a) high-speed photography with an image- converter camera, (b) magnetic field measurements, and (c) spectroscopy.
