A uranium-base alloy with increased corrosion resistance and decreased swelling tendency is described. The alloy contains from 3.5 to 3.7 wt% silicon and from 0.2 to 1.5 wt% aluminum. After casting, the alloy is subjected to a heat treatment corresponding to 800 to 850 deg C for 72-144 hours until practically the whole uranium-silicon phase has been converted into delta-U/sub 3/ Si.
