Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is one of the P/M processes allowing to manufacture net-shape parts from metallic or ceramic powders. In this technique, a major problem is generally to design the initial shape of the container in order to manufacture the part in a single step without any subsequent machining. To solve this problem, CEA/CEREM has developed a computer tool, named PreCAD{reg_sign}, that includes a Computer Assisted Design (CAD) module and a numerical simulation module. The CAD module automatically generates the 3-dimensional meshes needed for the simulation. Modelling of the densification is performed using finite element method with viscoplastic constitutive equations. A data base is available for different metals and alloys. Thermo-mechanical computation in 2D, 2D-Axisymmetric and 3D are possible. The deformed geometry can be visualized on the CAD module and compared with the required one. Isovalues of relative density, strain and stress can also be displayed. The case of a 3D part is considered in this paper. CAD figures, meshes, simulation results and validation for titanium alloys are presented.
