Application of tri-n-butyl phosphate and thiocyanate ions to molybdenum determination (in Polish)

A method of colorimetric determination of molybdenum was devised. It consists in extraction of the molybdenum thiocyanate complex with 15%; solution of TBP in CHCl/sub 3/. There is no interference from iron (30 mg), tungsten (1.5 mg), nickel (15 mg) (15 mg), vanadium(V) (10 mg), and titanium (0.2 mg); however, niobium interferes, but its influence may be eliminted by measuring absorption at 390 and 470 nm and solving a system of equations with two unknowns. To perform the determination: to the molybdenum solution (ab. 20 mu g Mo) in a separating funnel of 25 ccm capacity 1.5 ccm of 9 M HCl, 3.0ccm of 3M KSCN, 3 ccm of 20% ascorbic acid, 0.1 ml of 4% solution of CuSO/sub 4/ in 0.36 N H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ are added and filled up to 7.5 ccm with water. After 5 min 5 ccm of 15% TBP in CHCl/sub 3/ is added, and extracted for 3O sec. When phases are separated, the organic phase is transferred to a measuring flask of 10 ccm capacity, filled up with chloroform to the mark and absorbancy is measured (after 10 to 15 min) at 390 and 470 mn in respect to blank.
