Regulations for the administration and enforcement of the radiation control for Health and Safety Act of 1968

The purpose of the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act is to protect the public from unnecessary exposure to radiation from electronic products. Radiation covered was defined to mean any ionizing or nonionizing electromagnetlc or particulate radirtion or any sonic, infrasonic, or ultrasonic wave emitted from an electronic product as the result of the operation of an electronic circuit in such product. The provisions of the Act give the Secretary, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, authority to establish and carry out an electronic product radiation control program, which shall include performance standards for electronic products. The regulations contained herein were promulgated under that authority. The Bureau of Radiological Health retains the authority for the day-to-day operation in carrying out the Act's mandate for an electronic product radiation control program. This compilation is revised periodically, and efforts are made to provide an accurate reproduction of the regulations up to the date of this publication. This publication contains those regulations published in the FEDERAL REGISTER from June 4, 1969 through September 30, 1972. (CH)
