sian). sis selective solution, and electron microscopy. In phosphate residues buried among sulfide-bearing dark clays under strong reducing conditions, a large part of the uranium is present as pitchblende. Experiments on precipitation of uranium frond water solution were carrled out. The results of studies on the form of uranium in mineralized fossils showed that in fossilization of bone tissue and recrystallization of calcium phosphate, separation of U/sup 4+/ in the solid phase (uraninite) along with other compounds is possible. lsomorphic introduction of tetravalent uranium into the apatite structure apparently occurs only with low uranium contents.
