It was found that sulfide- and radon-containing water from the spring Jerzy'' exerts influence on the metabolism of some globulin fractions in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloanthritis ankylopoietica. A statistically significant increase in a/sub 1/ and a/sub 2/ globulins was found in 50 patients with primary rheumatoid arthritis, whereas in 20 patients with spondyloarthritis ankylopoietica only the increase in a/sub 1/ globulin fraction was observed. In both groups of prtients, albumins and gamma -globulins were not elevated. It was concluded that the increase in the two abovementioned fractions was effected by the pharmacodynamic action of radon. (auth)
