Measurements of E4 matrix elements in $sup 152$Sm and $sup 154$Sm

ABS>The E4 transition matrix element from the ground state to the 4/sup +/ state was measured in /sup 152/Sm and /sup 154/Sm, by comparing relativ e thick Target gamma -ray intensities following Coulomb excitation with 12 MeV / sup 4/He, 24 to 30 MeV /sup 16/O, and 35 to 40 MeV /sup 32/S projectiles Values for the E4 matrix element of (+0.31 + 0.12 - 0.20) barn/sup 2/ in /sup 152/Sm and (+0.50 + 0.09-- 0.12) barn/sup 2/ in /sup 154/Sm are found.
