Polarized beams in nuclear spectroscopy

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4417184
From 5th symposium on the structure of low medium mass nuclei: Lexington, Kentucky, USA 126 Oct 1972). See CONFTwo specific applications of polarized beams in nuclear spectroscopy are discussed. These are the study of giant dipole states of nuclei observed with the polarized proton capture reactions, and the study of particle-gamma correlations following a nuclear reaction that is initiated by a polarized incident beam. Several examples from previous experimental work are described. (JFP)
