Proportional and scintillation counters used in coincidence counting

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instrum. Methods, v. 112, no. 1-2, pp. 201-208
The accuracy of measurements by coincidence method depends on the efficiency of the counters that are used and their stability during measurements. Attention is paid to the problems of the reproducibility of measurements of both proportional and scintillation counters independently. Construction details of proportional counters are discussed and some advantages in counting characteristics of an event counter are presented. Using negative temperature resistors in the voltage divider of the photomultiplier, a compensation of the total amplifier factor was realized and a plateau of the scintillation counter obtained.
