An automatic apparatus to be used for sample introduction and measuring operation in a single collection mass spectrometer which is used for the measurement of isotopic ratio was developed. This apparatus manages automatically the setting of 40 argon samples in about 7 h and records the ion peaks for isotopic ratio. The operation is labor-saving and the number of measured samples per day is doubled. This apparatus is composed of a sample introduction system and a controller system. In order to reduce the handling time of samples, the sample introduction system has two reserviors and two evacuation devices. The controller system consists of two sequencers and their accessories which are used for the measuring operation and sample introduction. (auth)
