Elastic and inelastic scattering of 14 MeV neutrons

14-MeV neutrons scattered from C, Zn, Sn, and Bi were measured by time- of-flight, n- alpha associated-particle method with neutron pulse shape discrimination. The elastic scattering cross sections for these elements at 40 degrees are 105, 45, 30, and 410 mb, respectively. The inelastic scattering cross sections are 35 (4.43 MeV), 12 (0.92 MeV), 5 (1.15 MeV), and 87 (1.6 MeV) mb, respectively. (6 figures, 3 tables) (auth)
