In on-line processing by CDS-4096, data processing could be executed under visual observation and the results could be obtained at renal time. Especially, the interface was originally made for transferring the data from the scanner (MUHC) into the CDS4096, and has made possible to cornect these two machines effectively. As the on-line processing functions in CDS-4096, visual modes and computing modes were included. The images could be improved something by threshold, isocount display, smoothing by threshold, isocount display, smoothing, and subtraction operations in many modes. Furthermore, a light pen accessory was applied for sampling of pattern characteristics and quantitative analysis of images, and the satisfactory results have been obtained. Off-line processing was tried using the general purpose computer FACOM-230/35 and NEAC 2230 by means of paper tapes. The programs improving images that could not be executed by CDS-4096 were made. Good results have been obtained among those programs for correction of nonuniformity in camera sensitivity, multiselected threshold levels display and contour display. The More accurate dynamic study could be done by finding the time histogram of radioisotope accumulation in the regions of interest that were assigned exactly in the image. It was necessary to store exactly the original data without decreasing image quality. It was concluded that about 16 kilo words were suitable for memory capacities of the computer in this system, and also that the numbers of display points forming an image on the cathode ray tube should be increased to the degree that each display point was not discreted.
