The asymptotic behavior of the electromagnetic form factor of the pion F/ sup pi / was studied previously in the context of the operatorproduct expansion near the light cone. It was suggested that the asymptotic behavior of F/sup pi / will be determined by the scale dimension of the interpolating field of the pion. The quantity F/sup pi / was suggested to behave as F/sup pi / (q/sup 2/) ~ (q/ sup 2/)/sup 1-d pi / (q/sub mu / large and spacelike) where d/sub pi / and q/ sup 2/ are the scale dimensions of the interpolating pion field and the momentum transfer squared, respectively. This problem is reanalyzed, and it is indicated that F/sub pi / (q/sup 2/) does not necessarily depend on d/suv pi /. (JFP)
